As space is often at a premium on robot farms, we recommend the Standard footbath. The footbath requirements depend on robot numbers and layout, and many head‑to‑head farms install a single bath on the exit race.

Head-to-Head robot systems:

On a head-to-head robot system, a single footbath can be placed centrally between the two robots, provided there is sufficient space in front of it to avoid obstructing cow or operator access.

Direct exit: 

Where possible, we recommend installing the footbath at the direct exit of the robot. Because cows typically pass through the robot several times within a 24-hour period, adequate contact with the footbath solution is achieved through repeated short passes rather than a single extended one — removing the need for a longer bath. The recommended length for a direct-exit footbath is 1.7m–2.5m.

Diversion lane: 

Installing a slightly longer footbath within a diversion lane is an increasingly popular approach, and many farmers now factor this into the planning stage when designing new barns. Our Excel-style footbath is well suited to this application, helping to maintain cow flow and reducing the likelihood of cows stopping mid-bath.

All Hoofcount Footbaths come with the same standard control box, equipped with two chemical pumps so you can alternate solutions as needed. You can choose the chemical type and dosage each day — good footbathing practice is “little and often”, meaning daily use with ratios as low as 1.5%.

The Footbath can run via the Cow Counter, a timer, or manual mode. The Spray Wave is designed to maximise wash‑out efficiency, ensuring the bath is cleaned thoroughly from top to bottom and excess debris is cleared throughout the cycle.
